Founder Mr. Lee Chong-Ho

1940

Humble beginnings

At the age of 18, Lee Chong-Ho migrates from China to Malaya and begins his apprenticeship in a soy sauce factory in Kampar.

1945

The very first milestone

Lee starts up his very own soy sauce factory in Bidor following the end of World War II. He creates the yellow bean paste which requires a shorter brewing period. This helps to boost sales, making his business viable.

1950

The expansion begins

Bidor Kwong Heng’s business rapidly expands to other towns in Perak as well as parts of Selangor.

1980

Steps into the future

The company invests in manufacturing and sales by acquiring high-tech processing equipment and automated packaging machinery.

1991

Going international

After successfully capturing the domestic market, Bidor Kwong Heng decides to go international. The first country that Angel Brand products are exported to is neighbouring Singapore.

1997

Time for upgrades

To meet market demands, significant investments are made to expand and upgrade its manufacturing facility into a highly automated manufacturing plant.

1999

Traveling across the globe

The business expands further and reaches the U.K. market. This is rapidly followed by other international markets. Eventually, Bidor Kwong Heng has a presence in virtually every major country around the globe.

2002

Achieves full compliance

Bidor Kwong Heng receives certification for quality manufacturing and achieves full compliance with Malaysia Halal and AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 standards for all of its products. The company also registers with the U.S. FDA for products exported to the U.S.

2011

Achieves full BRC certification

Bidor Kwong Heng cements its status as an international class manufacturer as it receives full BRC- and FSSC22000-certifications.

2018

The heritage of excellence

Bidor Kwong Heng products are recognised as one of the Superbrands by the Malaysia Superbrands Council. It also wins an award during the SME 100 Awards: Fast Moving Companies™, acknowledging the company as a leading manufacturer in Malaysia renowned for its quality sauces.

2020

Unleashing our potential

The BrandLaureate SMEs Most Valued BestBrands of the Decade Awards 2020 has shed light on the exponential potential of Bidor Kwong Heng as a successful company with an increasing presence in the global market.

2021

Testament to product quality

Bidor Kwong Heng products have gained international quality recognition, by having been awarded with Monde Selection Silver Quality Award in 2021. Our products were evaluated by experts from all over the world using a 360° quality assessment that includes sensory evaluation, scientific analysis and international standards.
